What is EHS..?

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) is a very important factor for the companies that consider environmental protection, occupational health and safety at work as a necessity.

It is a major challenge that companies face in today’s business world. The protection of employee’s health in the workplace is a major concern. Additionally, the companies are becoming more and more concerned about the environment in their communities and where they do business.

Hence, Companies are “spending millions” to minimize the risks to occupational health and safety. The tasks of EHS is to eliminate any potential hazards or minimize hazards that may occur as part of the manufacturing process.

But HOW..?

One of the most important ways to overcome this risk is to provide safety training in basic rules to all the employees and teach them measures to be taken in order to prevent injuries to themselves and to their other fellow employees. Additionally, notes, pamphlets, booklets, etc. can be distributed amongst the employees to create awareness.

Is that enough…?

In order to spread awareness, we make best efforts to take full advantage of every chance to communicate a message on EHS to the audience. But, what if the message is released and no one remembers it? In today’s world, it’s easy for information to get lost or ignored if it’s not in a digestible format.
So, something needs to be done to present this information on EHS such that, it catches the attention of audiences and remains in public memory for long.

Visual Communication

Let’s go back to Stone Age when, no alphabets were invented, and humans carved and made drawings on rocks.Visuals in the form of images were their communication medium.

Now also, researches have shown that we remember visual content much easier and better than words.Keeping this in mind, the visual representation of content on EHS can play an important role in visualization of threats, concepts, ideas, and relationships and thus, can be considered as a good substitute for mere words.

How can EHS Play an Important Role in Visualization?

People are more interested in seeing information rather than reading about it. Images and videos are the foundations of the internet. Moreover, the incidents related to safety can be better understood when shown visually either in the form of a true video or animated.

Adding images and visuals as part of EHS training materials can really spice up any workplace safety data that you might want to share with your staff. In fact, anything technical or complicated can be more effectively explained in a training video. It’s also another way of making data more easy to understand. While animations, are a brilliant way to show how things you can’t see working such as accident scenarios or closed off equipment.

Visualised information for your safety communication will help workers more easily understand information and improve engagement. Effective visual communication is vital to getting staff aligned and working towards a positive safety culture.
