Apr 04, 2018

Indian Express reports that NTPC has been directed to review its existing Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and location management instructions post the incident that occurred in last year (early November). Where a sudden pressure release evacuated hot dust, ash and flue from a boiler while personnel were engaged in routine maintenance.

It also reports that post incident a Permit to work system is now being introduced at the facility. It must be closely followed and should remain as a crucial area of focus for the facility.

As the multiple fatalities in the incident were contracted workers, it has been sought to extend full occupational health and safety training to the contractual manpower as well.
