Firecracker factory explosion

September 4, 2019

A large stock of fire crackers were stored in a firecracker factory in the Gurdaspur district of India’s northern state of Punjab. Due to a blast, the whole factory was engulfed in a huge fire, leading to a death of 22 and injuring 20. Amongst the dead were the workers of the factory, one of the factory owners, and passers-by on the road outside the factory. Explosions are common in the factory workshops, especially during the Indian festival Diwali – and it creates a large demand for fireworks.
