Amazon India has announced its partnership with a non-governmental organization – Sol’s ARC – to launch industry’s first pilot program to train young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. This initiative focusses on creating internship opportunities for them across different parts of its network. With an aim to create a diverse and inclusive workforce, this program will enable successful integration of the trained individuals into the workforce and help them gain financial independence. More than 350 associates who are deaf and with speech disabilities are part of the Amazon network. They are spread over fulfillment centers, sortation centers and delivery stations.
The company is a specialist manufacturing plant and is a producer of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Although the cause of the blast is unclear, local media reports suggest that a chemical leak led to a fire and it ignited several gas cylinders.
