New system for measuring air quality

Apr 04, 2018

As we had previously reported via our FAQs section, India is getting an update for its air quality monitoring system. The officials say that India is working with Finland and the U.S to develop an air quality forecasting system which can predict air quality 2 days in advance.

System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) which is currently in use in India will continue to be the backbone of overall forecasting. SAFAR forecasts air quality one day in advance developed by IIT-Mumbai and run out of Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Secretary Madhavan Rajeevan said that the new system will most likely be developed before the winters.
