Digital training for future-proof organizations

While we consider the modern-day scenario of information distribution, reception and eventually its consumption – digital medium has been leading the way for some time now.

The traditional books have not been replaced but most of the “printing” is now digital. E-books, E-learning, webinars, and podcasts have a considerably chance of falling into the public light and being lapped up consequently.

The reason is the ubiquitous nature of accessibility devices.

Training for occupation domain has already forayed with exclusive and well-designed E-Learning courses, online trainings, and webinars – all of which can be accessed by the workforce to learn and progress.

However, distribution and a well curated community effort surrounding digital efforts has been the hallmark of all things electronic in modern age. Dating from the days of IRL servers and chat rooms – moderated and well administered chat lobbies and forums were always considered the respectable ones.

Shaping occupational learning

An effort to scale industrial learnings can gain momentum in two ways:

  • Portal based rich media sharing platforms which run across organizations in similar domains – to learn cross-cultural aspects and operational challenges
  • Statutory bodies coming together to provide open-access to latest research and findings in respective occupational domains

While the first point would be a cause of privacy concern – it can be easily alleviated by mandating scenario-based learnings. The learning can be adapted into practical scenarios and emulated over animation – which can then be sued as education snippets within the E-Learning modules.

For statutory occupational enforcement agencies, a leap of technology and microlearning distribution would go a long way than simply setting up physical training centres.

National occupational standards can be strengthened via wider physical networks which link best in class training providers. However, to build resilience and a greater acceptance rate – E-learning and digital training would have a crucial part to play.

Not only would they become the pivots for conventional trainings but offer a first-hand experience in how capable the training providers are when it comes to learning distribution and education

Primer to training success

Training providers must have a clear cut plan to allow its training faculty to explore, create and learn from creating engaging online content. The traditional classroom learning will soon share a sizeable living space with digital initiatives and the first place to start is teaching the trainers “on how to craft good digital content” which is relevant and survives the passing time (only to be replaced when the statutory framework gets amended).

Training and learning is a two-way street and the exchange and delivery of information, ideas and courseware has to survive a wide, multilingual as well as diverse audience.

Animation has a key role to play in this new space and so does E-learning. However, the most critical component is investment of time, training and digital literacy for training faculty who must be savvy to the latest ways and means of learning mode which is shattering the mould.

This is an investment for the knowledge economy, which challenges conventional wisdom. And therein, lies the holy grail of digital learning – timely top-management recognition and response plan to make its organization future-proof with the best digital learning tools.
